L'Alegria is the exciting new Barcelona based restaurant by Giacomo Hassan. For the dinners of the 8, 9 and 10 February, EFS is extremely happy to host this friend and chef, to learn, and share ideas. At L'Alegria, working from a minuscule kitchen, Hassan delivers a constantly evolving market driven menu, influenced by the extraordinary talent with whom he has worked during his career. Since graduating from the University of Gastronomic Sciences, he has continued to shape an extraordinary technical understanding, with hard graft in some of the worlds best restaurants.
Starting under the three Alciati brothers, at the haloed Piedmontese Guido restaurants, Giacocmo now boasts experience with a minimum of 10 Michelin stars, including 1* Relae (Copenhagen), 3*** Diverxo (Madrid), 2** Disfrutar (Barcelona) having also worked with many heroes off the Michelin circuit, including, Spain's Rafa Peña of Gresca. Until recently, Giacomo was sous chef to Chefs Table Star Francis Malman, at his Miami restaurant, Los Fuegos.. and The list goes on.
Giacomo has made it his objective to work far and wide, having spent time cooking across the world from Glow in Antwerp, Belgium, to Borago (no.5 in 50 Best Restaurants Latin America) in Santiago, Chile and a period in Northern Territories and Western Australia. At this point, Italian born Giacomo considers himself an Italian / Catalan / Spanish chef, who cooks what his travels have taught him. With all this, and Giacomo's desire to explore Scottish - Catalan links in his Edinburgh debut, we surely are looking forward to our first guest chef led weekend of 2018.
