A New Wave


We are extremely lucky to have the talented Leandro Carreira join us at Edinburgh Food Studio. "A New Wave" will be the last event of the year and we'll be diving deep into the cutting edge cuisine of Portugal. 

Leandro began his culinary career in Lisbon but soon sought out greener pastures to cultivate his creativity. With time spent across Switzerland, the Middle East and in Spain as sous Chef at world renowned Mugaritz. He eventually arrived in London where he worked under Nuno Mendes at Viajante, helping take the restaurant to whole new levels, and also with James Lowe at Lyles. Through his time spent working abroad, Leo has developed a style all of his own; bold textures, bright flavours, freshness and purity with a deft hand.

His project ‘L.C', has just finished a year long residency in East London, where he excited critics and customers alike with his pared-back, contemporary take on Portuguese regional cookery. Leo has definitely been 'smashing it' in London. Google him, critics and chefs alike rave about his no-bullshit approach to creative, delicious cooking.

Working with the old and the new alike, Leo played with traditional ideas, ingredients and flavours and showcased them through a new wave of cooking, championing history while searching for something unique.

Leo's love of fish, pork, shellfish always comes through strongly in his cooking which combines the best of locally sourced and Portuguese produce.

It is a great honour to welcome Leandro Carreira to Edinburgh Food Studio for three nights of delights.  Dinner starts at 8pm, and guests are welcome from 7:30pm onwards. The set menu costs £42, and an optional drinks pairing menu will be available for £35.
